Jordan Lake is currently offering some of the best fishing opportunities of the year. As the air temperature drops and the water cools, fish are shifting into their winter patterns, creating exciting conditions for anglers who prefer cooler weather and quieter waters. If you enjoy fishing when it’s not scorching hot and don’t mind bundling up a bit, the period from mid-November through early March is an ideal time to plan your trip. Booking early is key to securing your spot during this fantastic season.
How Cooler Air Temperatures Affect Jordan Lake’s Fish Behavior
As fall turns into winter, the air temperature around Jordan Lake steadily declines. This cooling air causes the surface water temperature to drop, which has a direct impact on fish activity and location. Fish are cold-blooded, so their metabolism slows down as the water cools. This means they become less active and start to move to deeper, more stable water layers where temperatures remain consistent. If you're able to find the groups of crappie, you can catch a ton of fish and FAST!
